Uniquely Freckled

A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art. - Cezanne

Family Tree

Picture
PrismaColor - Colored Pencil Drawing
September - October 2006 (junior year of high school)
16 in x 20 in
This drawing is a collaboration of facial features and hands of the three females in my nuclear family: my mom, my younger sister, and myself. The face in the background with hair is my beautiful mother. Overlapping on the left is my sister, Nicole's hand and eye. On the right, is my own hand and lips, completing the face.

Spotted Blue

Picture
Dick Blick Acrylic Paint
Spring 2005 (Freshman year of high school)
11 in x 14 in
This was my first acrylic painting. The subject, a Dalmatian is painting in a monochromatic fashion; black and white and one chroma, in this case blue. I had an obsession with dogs, so dogs were my subject matter for about a year.

Self Portrait

Picture
Derwent Drawing Pencils
September - December 2006 (Sophomore year of high school)
16 in x 20 in
This drawing is a full value drawing completed in pencil. It is a simple self portrait with the goal of achieving accurate local color and learning to draw what I "see" and not what I know. An eye is not necessarily football, every eye is different! It was a slow learning process, but so rewarding!

Feet

Picture
14 in x 20 in
Sharpie, conte crayon, black pastel
October 2007 (senior year of high school)
This mixed media drawing was a study of feet. I was interested in not only accurately articulating anatomy but developing modeling on the features as well by using additional mediums aside from the original outline in sharpie.
